If you are a TGRG member and have not yet done so please don’t forget to register to attend the TGRG AGM which will be held on Wednesday September 8th 2021 via Zoom, with at 14:00 UK time an Expert Panel discussing the question ‘What next for Transport Geography post-Covid?‘, and the AGM itself at 15:00 UK time. The meeting will be finished at 16:30.
The Expert Panel consists of Maria Attard, University of Malta; Simon Blainey, University of Southampton; Janet Dickinson, University of Bournemouth; and Frank Witlox (Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Transport Geography), University of Ghent. So it promises to be a very interesting afternoon.
Those members of TGRG who are also Members or Fellows of RGS-IBG will also be able to vote in the associated elections for the TGRG Committee. We have the following Committee positions vacant and open for nominations this year. Nominations (in each case from a Proposer and a Seconder) should be made by 1700 UK time on Tuesday September 7th, by e-mail to the TGRG Secretary (john@mobihub.com). If you need more information about any of the posts please contact the Secretary, John Austin, at john@mobihub.com.
Web and Social Media Officer – The period of the post is 3 years.
Postgraduate Representative (2 posts) – This position is specifically held by a current (at the time of the AGM) postgraduate student member of TGRG. The position is responsible for promoting postgraduate interests and needs to the wider TGRG and maintaining connection with the wider postgraduate community through the Postgraduate Forum and other social media, supporting postgraduate student members, and planning and executing events and workshops. The term is for 1 year only. However, it is hoped that where the Postgraduate Representative has not already been a member of the Committee, that they would expect to be willing to stand for subsequent re-election in the following year.
Please e-mail nominations, including a proposer and seconder, to the TGRG Secretary ( john@mobihub.com ) by 17:00 UK time on Tuesday September 7th.
We will also be seeking confirmation at the AGM, from the TGRG membership, of Tara Tanöz-Sargeant as our Awards & Prizes Coordinator for a further 2 years (making 3 years in the post in total). Tara was co-opted onto the Committee as our Awards & Prizes Coordinator after the 2020 AGM following no nominations being received for the post by the time of that AGM.
Please note that you do not have to attend the AGM to be nominated or express an interest in a committee position.
